Should i stay or should i go

Hello all,

I'm pretty new around with trying to burn a DL DVDs so i spent a few hours reading what people here write, seems like i have much to learn.

To make a long story short i have a Samsung old burner (TSSTcorp SH-S182F) who coasterized 3 CD's at various speeds, and got one right!

So i guess this drive is too old for this so saved you the time writing it...

Now i have a new HL-DT-ST GH220NS50 LG burner (checked and updated firmware), who trashed the first DVD i tried but after a good spin with the cleaning CD i got one good burn out of it (Attaching a jpg with the verify and most of the log, if you need a full report ill be happy to post).

All the media i used was Verbatim x8 media (MKM-003).

It wont be easy to return the new drive but if you guys think something is wrong here i will try to fight for it.

So my question is, to return or not to return? (I know only time will tell if ill be happy with the new drive but you can gain more info from those graphs and logs then i do).

Thank you for reading and really good job with keeping this forum helpful.

The log is fine, burned and verified succesfuly.

The first warning about SPTD is usual if you have installed software like Alcohol or Daemon Tools and in general not causing problem, but sometimes have a detrimental effect on drive performance on reading in verify session.

The second warning is by design and is part of ImgBurn process of cycling tray before verify and waiting for device to become ready.

All you can do is burn as many disc you need in next period and see how it perform. Come back with a log if it fail to write a disc.

If it's not causing you trouble you can happily keep it.

About Graph, maybe Cynthia or LIGHTNING UK! could tell you more if it's realy need attention the way it looks...
