The other drive on my computer is only CD-R, and the laptop burns DVDs but at a ridiculously slow pace (though it used to only take about 15 minutes, now it's around an hour and a half).

As for the slow burning on the laptop, please read the 2nd post from the FAQ thread (link in the pink box up top).
