Swyzlstyx Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I've used Nero for years (I currently have the latest version...after upgrading after the last time I tried to use ImgBurn causing this same issue). When I install ImgBurn and try to burn a BD-R image, it fails (see below). Then, when I try to go back to using Nero Burning ROM, it fails as well. Last time I had to wipe my computer clean and re-install Nero (and I think the entire OS), to be able to burn again. It's been a while...I forgot what I'd done...and I just did it again. I re-installed ImgBurn to see if it would improve BD-R compatibility on an early (1.0) Blu-Ray player. Failed. I've uninstalled ImgBurn, rebooted, but Nero ROM still won't burn. It worked fine immediately before installing ImgBurn. My LG burner has the latest firmware. I even re-installed it...just like I remember doing the first time I tried ImgBurn with the same results. It's not the media. The failure happens on TY DVD-R and Ritek BD-R...both of which I never have any coasters with on Nero. ImgBurn just has such a good reputation...I got drawn in again. Any ideas about a conflict with Nero? Thanks! It seems to fail when writing the Lead-In: I 11:01:15 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! If you try to burn a Verbatim, does that work? Thanks Cynthia. No, I haven't tried Verbatim BD-R. I had terrible luck with Verbatim DVD-R compatibility years ago, and haven't bothered with them since...only TY DVD-R. The Ritek BD-R I'm using burn with zero problems using Nero, so I guess it's just a case of trying to fix something that isn't broke...I should just keep using Nero. After installing ImgBurn, the only way I can get my burner to start working again with Nero, is to uninstall ImgBurn, turn off computer, remove power plug from internal burner, restart computer, turn off computer, plug power back into burner, start computer. Then Nero works fine again. Very strange....that's why I figured trying to install Nero and ImgBurn on the same computer has some obvious conflict. Edited August 13, 2010 by Swyzlstyx
Cynthia Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 It sounds very odd as ImgBurn doesn't install any drivers and/or mess around with Nero that would make it go banana when you burn after the installation of ImgBurn. In my ears it sounds more as the discs could be a bit of hit and miss and therefore it looks like ImgBurn is messing up your system. Edit: The failure happens on TY DVD-R Sounds even more odd that those discs should be a hit and miss when you get problems after the installation of ImgBurn.

Stranger is that the exact same discs...TY DVD-R and Ritek BD-R....and I tried 2-3 of each...all failed when attempting to burn the lead-in...were STILL able to successfully be burned with Nero after getting it working again. So it failed before burning anything at all...the discs were still perfectly good. I'm not a real computer wiz...it's over my head.
Cynthia Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I guess your Nero is using the same Windows SPTI as ImgBurn? NT-SPTI used You should see this in the Nero log. You have anything "odd" in the filter driver list? Main Menu -> Tools -> Filter Driver Load Order (you can copy a text file from that function in here) Using the same write speed in both programs? I 11:04:42 Write Speed: MAX
