image dvd not readable in win and seen as blank on mac

hi everyone,

I'v been running into a problem while trying to boot / install win 7 x64 on my mac pro 1.1.

The story is that while trying to install win 7 x64 0n a presumably "unsupported" mac pro 1.1, I'v created an bootable image dvd with imgburn following the instructions given here:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2207855&start=15&tstart=0

The known issue is that with the official win 7 x64 install CD, the mac ends up showing a black screen with a "choose dvd boot type" command and freezes.

now, eneryone seems to have this working just fine. In my case, the finished dvd is not readable in win XP SP2, and seen as blank in mac OSX 10.6.4

hence I cannot boot from it. i've repeated the process 3 times, burned 3 dvd with the same result. I am not much of a computer expert when it comes to a deeper understanding of all these procedures and terminologies, so I'd be grateful for any help..

Is there any known solution to this?

Many thanks!

That image doesn't have a valid file system, make it again.

hi,

thanks for the info - one step closer to a solution.

I already repeated the image making procedure - same result. I have no idea why and where the image creation goes wrong. I just exactly followed the procedure of the above link.

Use ImgBurn to make the image instead then. There's a guide for it in the Guides forum (Windows 7 Operating System Installation Disc)

THANKS big time lightning uk!!

After 2 days of nerve wrecking search, your link did solve the issue!

The install went smoothly and so far no issues.

Thanks again!
