ambuoi Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi there, need instructions on how to set booktype in imgburn cause i'm planning to burn a videogame iso to a dvd+r dl. I already know the layer break, the problem is that i read in other forum that i should set the book type to dvd-rom. I have a lightscribe dvd multi recorder, drive id is "atapi dvd a dh20a4h". I googled it already and failed to find any answer on how to properly configure the booktype setting for my dvd burner. Sorry for the noob question, newbie here. I don't want to waste a dvd+r dl media because of improper burning because it's a little expensive. Hope you guy could help. Thanks!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 ImgBurn will manipulate the booktype on that drive automatically, you don't need to do anything.
ambuoi Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 That was a fast response. And mr. Imgburn author replied to me himself. Cool! Thank you so much mr. Imgburn author! You rock and more power!
ambuoi Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 I have another question. Is it ok to burn it at 1x write speed? Some forum say the write speed range should be 2x-2.4x if you're writing a large size image file into a dvd+r dl.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 1x wouldn't work at all - in the sense that it's not an option. Drives typically only offer speeds of 2.4x and upwards on DVD+ (plus) format media. You have to find the best speed out of the 'supported' ones for your drive/firmware/media combo. There's nothing to say the slowest one is the best one.
ambuoi Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) That's odd. I already burned Metroid Prime Trilogy at 1x write speed. I dunno how. Maybe because I have an older version of Imgburn. I got the 2 games working except for the 3rd game, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. If I start the game it ends up in a black screen and crashes. Many forums said that the layer break should be set at 2084960 and i did. But i had a layer break warning before burning, exceeding layer break limit something like that, i forgot to copy the log. I continued burning it anyway. What could I have done wrong? For me, I think it's because of the Verbatim dvd+r dl media I used. I read in a forum post in this site which also came from here in the Philippines that they are suspecting that CDr-King(the same retailer/franchise wherein i bought the media) is selling 'budget line' or 'value line' verbatim media. I've been using verbatim dvd-r from cdr-king for my wii games ever since and this is the first time i had a coaster(Bravo!). My first burnt dvd+r dual layer by the way. I'll try burning it some other time. I'm planning to play the first 2 Prime's anyway. I'll just post another question if the same thing happens again. Anyway, thank you so much for the help Lightning UK! Edited August 26, 2010 by ambuoi
