RobRoy Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I am trying to burn a DVD+R DL at 2.0X and for whatever reason, it still uses automatic write speed. I have went in and set the burner to 2X as max by the media and the selected the drive as 2x and it still comes up and says "wanted 2x.... got 4X".... WTF!!!!!! ???? How do I turn off the automatic write speed if I am not doing it right? If I select a write speed, why the H3!! doesn't it use it? Thanks, Rob
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Look at the 'Supported Write Speeds' text in the disc info box on the right when you have one of those discs in the drive. Does it list the speed you're trying to set it to? If not, there's your answer - the drive simply doesn't support it. If you'd posted the log (as per the pink box up the top ), I'd have been able to tell you without you having to look yourself.

Well when I looked at the info on the right side, it listed N/A for Speeds. Why can it simply not write at a lower speed? The media, even though its sold as Memorex, appears to be Ricotek (obviously what Memorex rips everyone off with) and $21 US for 10 discs is not cheap in my book. Thanks for the help and log included this time. -Rob ImgBurn.log
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I need a BURN log, not a READ one. Or just put a blank disc in the drive, switch to 'Write' mode and copy + paste all the text from the disc information box on the right. Sure, you can tell ImgBurn to tell the drive to burn at 1x but the drive will just ignore ImgBurn and use 16x regardless (as that's the lowest it can do).
RobRoy Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 I need a BURN log, not a READ one. You didn't say that nor does your Pink Box which points to a link, to a page entitled.."Where can I find the ImgBurn log?" Guess what? That's what you got. 2.4X appears to be the only supported write speed...
