Hiyas,

I have used ImgBurn for a short period only and love it. My problem now though is this..

When i first used it, i had no problem burning from within my user account which has limited access, but after a recent reformat I get this message when starting ImgBurn with my limited account...

16:47:15 Initialising SPTI...

16:47:15 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

16:47:17 CreateFile Failed! - Device: '\\.\CdRom0' (F:)

16:47:17 Reason: Access is denied.

16:47:17 Errors were encountered when trying to access a drive.

16:47:17 This drive will not be visible in the program.

16:47:17 You need Administrative privileges to use SPTI.

I don't think I made any changes from within the Admin account the last time when it worked, but this time I've set sharing security on ImgBurn folder to allow my user account full access but it still gives the above message.

Do I absolutely need to make the changes listed here..... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=59&view=findpost&p=969 .. in order for me to burn from my user account? I have Win XP Pro SP2.

Oh and on installing, I ticked install for all users and also ticked allow SPTI access for all users... still get the above message..

Any help will be great as I love using this program and it's a pain to switch accounts each time i want to burn this time around....

ty in advance.. :)

Try using Nero BurnRights (Google it) to give yourself access to the drive.

I don't know why the installer option didn't work for you though.

The problem has nothing to do with permissions on the ImgBurn folder etc.

Why are you stuck on SP2? Unless you have a specific program you KNOW won't run under SP3, you should at least attempt to keep your machine up-to-date and secure. If you're keeping with SP2 due to all the rubbish on the written on the Internet when SP3 first came out, just ignore it.
