Ok so I have a Ricoh MP5240A DVD RW drive and am using Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5 Gb x8 disks, in attempt to burn xbox 360 backups.

The problem is that my drive doesnt seem to detect the disks. Here is the Log:

I 11:47:17 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started!

I 11:47:17 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2)

I 11:47:17 Total Physical Memory: 785,904 KB - Available: 405,868 KB

W 11:47:17 Drive J:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.

I 11:47:17 Initialising SPTI...

I 11:47:17 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

I 11:47:17 -> Drive 1 - Info: RICOH DVD+RW MP5240A 1.11 (E:) (ATA)

I 11:47:17 -> Drive 2 - Info: LITE-ON DVD SHD-16P1S GS07 (L:) (ATA)

I 11:47:17 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD+RW!

At the bottom of imgburn i also get the message: Device Not Ready (Unknown (ASC: 0x92, ASCQ: 0x05))

So i tried updating my driver on the ricoh website and when i open r flash in attempt to update the driver i am asked to select the drive to update from a drop down list but the drive doesnt appear :s, so it will not let me update the driver at all.

Any suggestions at all will be much appriciated.

Taken from Ricoh site http://www.ricoh.com/drive/asia/dvd/mp5240a/

Supported media for writing DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-R, CD-RW, High-Speed CD-RW

Your drive is pretty old and don't support burning Dual Layer discs. It's time to buy yourself a new drive if you want to burn those discs.

On the other note...

Did you followed carefuly the instructions on update procedure? http://www.ricoh.com/drive/asia/support/download/how_win.html

If you not have a valid reason to stuck to Service Pack 2 on Windows you should update it to Service Pack 3 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389
