GETaklu Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) I have used ImgBurn to make backup copy's of CD's in the past and it worked great for me, but I have recently run into problems with it for some reason. When I go to create an image file from a disk it will start analyzing tracks and then just freeze up... Now it doesn't happen on every disk, but it is happening more frequently. I can only imagine that it is a copyright protection problem, but I am running the latest version of ImgBurn (2.5.2.0.). Anybody have an idea how to get past this problem? Also I am having a problem with two different CD's not having any audio when I get finished copying them.....You can clearly see that the image was transferred onto the new CD, but no audio and I am using good media (TY CD-R 52X) and burning at 8X. LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 What drive do you have? Is it really freezing up or just taking a long time? If it's stuck analysing the same track for 5 mins then that's too long. Can't help with the 'not having any audio' issue unless you post a log of the burn/verify of those discs.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 What bit didn't you understand? The bit where I mentioned Verify? Switch to Verify mode, put the disc in that you claim has no audio, untick the 'Verify against image file' box and hit the go button. The 'disc information' is the text in the box on the right of the main screen - it always starts by showing the full device identifier of your drive.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 It certainly looks like there's audio on it to me. Can't media player play it at all?
GETaklu Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) It certainly looks like there's audio on it to me. Can't media player play it at all? Media player and my stereo system both will play the CD just like nothing is wrong but no sound comes out. And it is not only this one disk, I have another disk that does the same thing after I copy it. Edited September 8, 2010 by GETaklu
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Ok well I guess it's related to the reading bit then, not the writing. Have ImgBurn read the disc into a giant WAV file (select that option in the 'file type' box when selecting the destination file name) and then try to play the WAV file. If that still doesn't work and you've check all the tracks (just via the slider unless you mount the CUE file in DAEMON Tools or something), it's probably some form of copy protection and we can't help you with that. I assume it doesn't matter which drive you use to read said disc off in the first place?
hollywood Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 this may sound silly, but get a regular commercially pressed CD and verify that your drive will play that. all of your posts state you not being able to play these "bad" CDs, but I haven't read where an original store bought music CD works. have you tried one recently?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Yeah and don't forget to turn your speakers on
GETaklu Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Hollywood....I have played all these store bought CD's in my CD drive (D:) and they play just fine and sound great. UK....as far as that other stuff, I know about just enough about computers to get my self into trouble...giant WAV files and DAEMON are way over my head.....Sorry! My D: drive is the newest drive I have and it is probably 4 to 5 years old......it is my DVD burner and I have used it and ImgBurn to back up over 200 movies, but haven't had much luck with music on it lately. My E: drive is much older and it is only good for CD burning, but I have tried both drives in this operation and have had the same results.....although I am sure that my firmware is really old on that drive also.
