annie
Hello, I am wondering about the difference between .mds and .iso. I recently got a new computer (with Windows 7) and I don't think my old computer gave me the choice between .mds and .iso. The .mds ('image file') is only ~5kb but has the ImgBurn logo, whereas the .iso ('disc image file') is around 700mb but has a generic logo. What's the difference? Thanks! annie
Addendum: The reason I am asking is because I'm suddenly having trouble burning. For both .mds and .iso the burn seems to go just fine but my DVD player says "Cannot play disc". I've used a couple of disc types, both of which I've used successfully in the past, and my new computer has also burned things with ImgBurn in the past. I downloaded the most up-to-date version of ImgBurn and tried to slow the burn rate, but truth-be-told (in case it isn't obvious) I have no idea what I'm doing or why... So based on this totally random set of potentially useless information, does anyone have any suggestions for me?
spinningwheel
Annie, hi and welcome to the forum. The .mds contains info used for disc burning, the .iso is a 'container' that encompasses your files and makes them compliant to the dvd standard. Post a copy of your logfile and read the faqs and guides or at least the pink bit at the top of this page. spinner
