Failed to Set Write Parameters

Recommended Posts

I have used IMG burn in conjunction with Any DVD HD, BD Info, and TsMuxeR for the past 2 years to successfully burn Blu Ray movies. I just recently built a new computer, with a new burner (LITE-ON Black 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu-ray 3D feature SATA Model iHBS112). The drivers downloaded automatically with Windows 7. I was able to create a successful ISO file and watch on my computer using PowerDVD8 Ultra, but when I went to burn I received the "Failed to Set Write Parameters" error message. I'm not sure if I have the correct setting in IMG burn, but I have attached a copy of my log. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your drive removed itself from the system, that's why everything then failed.

What chipset does your motherboard use?

When your machine is stable again, update the firmware on the drive.

I updated a firmware and got a little bit farther only to receive a different error. It is a brand new ASUS Sabertooth x58 chipset with a I-7 930. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I updated everything (including flashing to the latest BIOS). I see there is another thread with the same error message on a lite-on drive and you reference it probably being a light-on problem. I have attached the latest error message. I appreciate all your help. I'm thinking about just swapping my blu-ray burner on my other machine with this one, because I never used to have any problems. What do you suggest?

Thanks,

It's not normal to get 'Invalid Address For Write' as the first error, it normally ALWAYS follows something else.

So I'm thinking the real error is getting lost somewhere.

Do you have any non Ritek (RITEK-BR2-00) discs you can test with? Even a BD-RE will do. If you haven't got any, go buy a Verbatim one.

Got the same error message when I switched to a Memorex BD-R. I'm going to try and create a new ISO and see if anything changes.

New iso, same result. I'm officially getting frustrated...

It was never the ISO anyway. What you burn makes no difference, the drive doesn't know or care about it - data is data.

Notice those 'Memorex' discs are using the same Ritek dye and I did specifically say to try a different one :)

I 19:52:20 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: RITEK-BR2-00) (Speeds: 4x)

You cannot go by the 'brand' name on discs.

Is that burner connected to a black or gray SATA port? You want it on one of the black ports.
