Since then, both times I have tried to burn a cd the drive has "locked up" as soon as the write operation is finished. It disappears from Explorer, and refuses to open when the button is pushed. I thought maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the device in hardware manager might help, but the drive is completely unresponsive. The only way to revive it is to reboot the computer. What could cause this? Thanks
mmalves Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 The problem could be the controller the drive is attached to (e.g. optical drives don't play nice with controllers in RAID mode) or its drivers are not present/outdated. Try using SIW to identify your controller and look for the latest drivers for it.
