I have tried Maxell, Memorex, and Sony -R and +R discs, and the only ones my drive will even recognize are the Sony +R's. Been trying to burn these video clips for weeks now. Have tried using Windows Movie Maker, and DVD Maker, and then tried using NCH Prism file converters and then NCH Express Burn and no luck. So I downloaded IMG and it seemed to be working. Then during actual burn I get I/O error, and I try again, then I get Unable to Recover TOC. It does it right after the lead in, failed to write sectors 3712-3743. I have an IO Magic external burner, but it sucks, sometimes recognizes blank discs when it wants to, and even if it does, it is error laden as well during burn. I will try to firmware update and see what happens with the IO Magic. What do you mean by a 'normal' size external burner ? I just want something that works, that isn't picky on disc brand, that will give me a decent copy. What type/brand do you recommend ? Tired of buying discs and equipment that don't work. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 8, 2010 Share Posted October 8, 2010 You can still remove slimline ones from a laptop and replace them. They're normally just held in by a catch or screw on the bottom. What do you mean by a 'normal' size external burner ? Normal (desktop PC size) Vs slimline (laptop size). All slimline drives are rubbish compared to normal (= half height = fits in a single 5.25" drive bay) ones. For ideas on what to get, take a look at the MyCE (aka CDFreaks) forum.
