pricewise987 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) Hi Not sure where this should go but am hoping someone can help I have an external SONY DVD Burner. (16x) If i rip a DVD onto my PC(internal HD) and burn to DVD using IMGBurn from there everything is fine If i rip a DVD onto my external Hard-Drive the burn works fine for the first 80% - burn speed gets to about 13x - it then slows and drops to exactly 6x. Does anyone know why this happens? Is it something to do with USB power? Any suggestions would be very welcome.. Edited October 17, 2010 by pricewise987
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 It sounds like your external devices (or the bus in general) can't cope with the required data transfer rate.
pricewise987 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks very much for the really quick reply.... It burns at required data transfer rate for 6 minutes (80%)up to 13x but then drops off to 6x when it is nearly at the end... Is there anything i can do to maintain the transfer rate through the entire burn...???
ianymaty Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Try limit the speed to 8x, probably the best speed for DVD burn
pricewise987 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks... I will give it a try.... Is there any way to improve the transfer rate to get complete 16x burns....
Cynthia Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Perhaps you need new drivers for the USB. Check here if you have the latest ones. http://www.ma-config.com/
pricewise987 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks Cynthia A very handy little feature - would recommend to all.... All USB drivers up-to-date though..
