Booktype setting for Toshiba Writer, DVD+R DL Disk

Recommended Posts

Need to burn a .iso image to a DVD+R DL. Using ImgBurn (which works great for all of my needs so far)version 2.5.2.0. Have a Toshiba SuperMulti PA3834-1DV2 USB Writer/Reader. ANything I have queued to write to the device has worked. However, writing a very large .iso file to the DVD+R DL disk retains the booktype of DVD+R DL. I would think the drive would set the booktype to DVD-ROM, but does not. I see this tool has options to force the booktype, but see no support for the Toshiba brand (and even tried all listed in the event it was manufactured by one of the others listed).

So, my questions are this:

1. Am I out of luck with this drive or is there something I am missing?

2. Can anybody recommend a portable/usb DVD/CD writer that will work, i.e. be able to burn an .iso image to a DEV+R DL and set the disk booktype to DVD-ROM?

Okay, thanks -- figured as much.

Can anyone recommend a "currently available", portable DVD drive they like, works to bit-set booktype, and can burn DVD+R DL disks?

I would go for an Optiarc 7260 in an external attached USB with SATA enclosure. Should burn pretty much everything nicely.

Thanks for the info, help, and suggestions. Well, I finally have success!!! I was able to get my hands on a Sony DRX-810UL-T burner, which ImgBurn worked very well with. I used a Sony DVD+R DL disk and was FINALLY able to burn and verify a DVD with booktype "dvd-rom". I am very, very impressed with the ImgBurn tool and the information on this forum -- I actually learned a great deal about the DVD burning process -- very interesting.

Thank you
