Hi. I'm not english so I can't speak it correctly. Sorry for the mistakes I will make.

My problem:

 

Time ago, my DVD Read Unit didn't respond, so I have to shut down my computer manually.

Now, when I try to burn a DVD, ImgBurn or other burner gives me this message (the DVD I entered WASN'T a DVD +/- RW, was a -R!

Must I buy a new writer? Please answer!

That line in the Log window shows the capabilities of your burner, not the disc inside (the disc's attributes are shown in ImgBurn's window as text on the right).

 

That 'Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present' status means your burner didn't recognise the blank disc, which on an old burner like yours, means it's dying and will need to be replaced.
