  1. 1. If you could only have one drive, what would it be?

If you'd like a drive added let me know, but it should still be available for purchase.

This is meant as a buying guide as well as a conversation starter.

I 'm thinking of getting a Benq (what model ?)or a Pio111 dont know for sure I currently use an NEC3500 and all the burns are A1 its a really sweet drive ,I would like to be able to scan some of the burns it made to check the quality .I'll be watching to see the outcome it may sway me one way or another

i have a 1640 ,a 1655 and an nec3550 polo and i must admit i like the 1640 the best and have also voted as such .

although the plextor i have is best for dual layer imo. i like the pioneer 111 too but as it doesn't auto bit set like the plex and the benq's its kind of a minus as you have to keep an eye on the type of discs when queue burning

i don't know about cursed , its giving as good a scan on this batch of tyg02 as the benq drives and this was @ 12x

I love my BenQ DW1655, it's the first one I have owned and it's a solid burner all round and you can do the pretty scans as above. I voted for my model but any of the recent BenQ's will do the job ! :)

That's how I feel about my Sony DRU 710A drives. The have been chugging along since 2004 with nary a problem.

Looks like the 760 won for July, and I was too busy to do it again in August. Is there interest in me running it for Sept?

I know they're slow readers and have no stats, but I have yet to have a single bad burn from my LGs.

I'll stick with them.
