AMD 64 4800+ 2.5ghz, 2gb ram, windows 7 32bit. here are my logs from my two attempts. 1st attempt i/o buffer set at default 40mb and max burn rate, 2nd attempt set at 512mb and 4X burn rate. no programs running. i even lowered the computers resolution the 2nd run to 800x600. At one point it took 30 mins to read 512MB of data from your hdd! Clearly there's something wrong with that. Are you using your hdd for anything else during the time that it's burning? Maybe taskmanager would show you some other process running? You can add on columns that show Read/Write/Other I/O. Perhaps indexing or defrag is kicking in? Perhaps AV scanning is kicking in? I'm not running or using the computer for any other task during the burn. It gets to the 50% mark pretty quick, burning at 4-6X. Then once it hits the 2nd layer...? Here is a scan of my hard drive in hdtune. any recommendation for a new hard drive if that is what you think i need? I think my hard drive has slowed down this past month. 60 GB free of 320gb. LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 2, 2010 Share Posted November 2, 2010 That graph is awful, you know that yeah? I'd be inclined to run the WD diagnostics software on it. You could also repeat the same hdtune test under 'safe mode'. You can get a few boot cd's that have loads of hdd testing tools on them, perhaps give one of those a go? jasheeky Posted November 3, 2010 Author Share Posted November 3, 2010 It was the hard drive! New hard drive is significantly faster too. New installation of windows 7, set imgburn buffer to 256mb, set burn speed to AWS(MAX) using verbatim BD50 2X discs, and it burned at 4X fine (imgburn said disc was 2x,4x capable) Thank you for the technical support Lightning UK!
