I tried to install it to the Xbox..and then 35% in, it tells me its unreadable. The other 2 failed attempts won't even hit 0% on the installation screen. I've burned 2 games successfully already with the same burner, this game already took 3 of my verbatim dvd+r DLs, 2 burned successfully but couldn't be read. What may be the problem?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 You should verify your burns. Check the 'Verify' box again when you're on the main 'Write' mode screen. Your drive only supports 2.4x write speed on the discs and I doubt you'll find a firmware update for it. You could try a cleaning disc in the drive but you might just be better off getting a new one... and not a slimline one!
canikickit1 Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Thanks for your reply! Whats weird is that I burned 2 other games successfully, (though I needed to burn each twice because one failed each time). Could it be the burner itself? I know Verbatim's are the way to go, but would using Memorex DVD+R DLs solve it?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 As MKM-001-00 are pretty much the best you can buy, yes there's a good chance it's the burner itself - unless you got a dodgy spindle of MKM-001-00 of course. It's not possible to know which dye the 'Memorex' discs use, but by all means give them a try. It is possible that your drive will burn differently with them (not necessarily 'better')... but I doubt it. I certainly wouldn't trust a burner that couldn't burn Verbatims. Don't forget about the cleaning disc. Slimline drives (that's what you've got yeah?) are prone to getting dirty due to their design.
