I've got quite a few listed on mine and don't have any problems.

If there are some you're asking about in particular, it might be better to name them and provide version numbers etc.

Yeah they're both fine.

I have gear and sonic ones on my pc too and as I say, no problems so far.

Maybe older verions caused problems but I'd hope those bugs have been ironed out by now.

4.71.2 is quoted (by Adaptec's site) as being ok for XP.

However, no up-to-date software should really rely on that now.

It only works with IDE and SCSI devices so is useless for people that rely on USB/Firewire for connecting their drives.

I don't think ASPI gets listed as a filter driver anyway, it takes its own route to the drive whereby it bypasses everything else.

Yeah, there's no reason for a version of ASPI to have any effect on SPTI - or at least not that I know of.

Apart from little tools that the cdfreaks people seem to make, nobody uses the 'system wide' aspi now. If you're trying to diagnose problems with someones pc, just tell them to take aspi off!

That forceaspi util can be used to remove the relevant files + reg entries.

I had jmet extract killaspi and host it for me so as not to confuse the

person being helped. Glad to know it's not an issue with imgburn,

I suspected as much, that's OK gear/sonic can hose that spti bus

well enough. Must be the older versions tho.

I really enjoyed a thread over at cdfreaks from a few years ago on these issues, trying to get an update on it. Thanks LuK!
