gazza667 Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 Hi all. Im a noob to DL burning. Im not quite clear about your advice for updating firmware. I have a brand new Optiarc AD-7240S writer & have burned 3 or 4 'back up' Xbox 360 games successfully. But recently im getting a "Power Calibration Area Error". After searching this forum & seeing the advice on Firmware upgrades for dvd drives ive seen my one has Version 1.04 now listed. My drives firmware is 1.02. So im guessing i need to upgrade it. Can you confirm this is correct please ? Also will it effect the warranty on the drive once it's upgraded ? Rincewind Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 You are correct, this is the latest version, taken from http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-7240S/files.html Also: I 23:52:35 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-D01-67) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) Unfortunately RICOH isn't deemed to be quality media even though it is from Japan; Verbatim with the ID MKM-xxx are, though ironically they are made in Singapore (quality ones are), and MKM = Mitsubishi Kagaku Media, go figure.
