Bigslp Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I have recently switched from ver. 2.4.4.0 to the newest version 2.5.2.0 After doing so I can no longer burn my DVD's at the maximum speed. I was previously getting close to 8X, but now that I have upgraded to the newest version, it only goes to 4.0. It never peaks at anything higher. Is there a setting somewhere that is wrong, or possibly some sort of bug? I have the burn speed set to both MAX and also 8X, either way, still only get 4.0X Nothing has changed other than the version. Im still using the same media. Any ideas? thanks, Erich

LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 The program tells the drive to write at whatever speed (in your case, MAX) It then queries the drive to see what speed it thinks it will be using. W 18:38:52 Write Speed Miscompare! - MODE SENSE: 5,540 KB/s (4x), GET PERFORMANCE: 11,092 KB/s (8x) For DVD, the 'GET PERFORMANCE' one should show the correct speed, and as you can see above, it's clearly saying 8x. If the drive then still burns at 4x (which matches what the older CD 'MODE SENSE' version says), I'm afraid that's its problem (buggy firmware). Old versions of ImgBurn sent about a million different speed setting commands. Maybe one of those worked around the issue How it is now in the current version is better / correct for fully MMC compliant drives. Out of interest, what does it do if you actually set the speed to 8x rather than leaving it on MAX? p.s. Why isn't your OS patched to SP2?
