cheezy102 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I do a lot of burning and am struggling to find a DVD writer that can keep up. I currently have 3 Pioneers (118L) but after just a few weeks of heavy use only one is still good. One has broken completely and the other gives a high percentage of bad burns (Verbatim media). Can anybody recommend a well built drive that will last? I don't mind spending more as long as they will last
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 For £10 - £20 each, you can't expect them to be built to last - especially not if you're using them 24/7 (sorry, I don't know exactly what you mean by 'heavy use'). If you've killed 3 drives in no time at all, maybe they're overheating or something. As I'm sure you know, the Pioneer 118 drives aren't true Pioneers like their predecessors. Pioneer have stopped making their own DVD burners now. Try something like an Optiarc 7260 next time. When that fails, try something else!
cheezy102 Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 By heavy use I mean 50 to 100 DL burns a week. Thanks for the advice man; if the Sony drives also fail I will be back for more
