Rincewind Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) Well, you did set the speed to try and burn at 1x and that is not suppported. Try again at the proper speed, maybe 6x or 8x this time. I 18:41:23 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) W 18:41:23 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 1,385 KB/s (1x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x) -edit Also if you have used this drive for a while, you might want to consider cleaning the lens, the buggy sense area could mean your lens is a bit dusty. After that try again and see if it works, good luck. Edited December 17, 2010 by Rincewind
overfiend7777 Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 It worked! burned at 6x instead of 1x. Strange that I've always used 1x for over 50 backups and never got this problem before, anyways thanks!

Strange that I've always used 1x for over 50 backups and never got this problem before, anyways thanks! Even if you 'burned successfully', I would check back in any other logs you may have. 1x is simply not supported by any of the DVD media, it will usually just be over-sped to at least 4x. You just probably never noticed the warning message in your logs stating that 1x for DVD media is not supported usually.
mmalves Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Look for the latest drivers for your system's chipset/SATA controllers (hint: use SIW to identify them). After you do that you should also update your burner's firmware.
overfiend7777 Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 I actually updated the burner's firmware, http://www.firmwarehq.com/Asus/DRW-2014L1T/files.html, just before burning the "successful dvd dl." Now I'm not sure if it was the 6x setting or the update....but I'll see if the next burn is good and take a look at the log. Thanks.
