james2805 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Well, basically, i have burned loads and loads of dual layer discs before. I make backups of my XBOX 360 Games with ImgBurn. All of a sudden, my drive has started giving the error below, have tried 5 discs (all Verbatim 2.4x). Tried burning normal DVD+R with Nero and it works sometimes, other times that fails too. Am I right in thinking my Drive is just on its way out? Or needs a clean? (i dont have any laser cleaning fluid or denatured alcohol tho). What you guys think, as its working sometimes with DVD+R and reading movies still, think it just needs a clean? james2805 Posted December 18, 2010 Author Posted December 18, 2010 update imgburn and try at one of the supported speeds try updating your firmware too Will update imgburn but like I say, had a few problems with Nero on DVD+R too. Have already checked for newer firmware, I have the newest, its a shit dvd writer to be fair, but never had any problems until now. try supported speed? im using Verbatim 2.4x Discs. 2.4x is the speed recommended for backing up xbox games too.
cornholio7 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I 20:36:16 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) these are the speeds your drives firmware supports, i burn dual layer discs at 6x without problems

cornholio7 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 you could try a cleaner, but its probably better to go for a new drive
