A.P. Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Hi all, Armed with little to no technical skills whatsover, I am trying to burn 2 dvd's onto 1 disc for space saving reasons and also convenience. Each video I am trying to burn is an hour long. I have used dvdfab to rip the 2 original discs onto my hard drive, and then I have used dvdshrink in re-author mode to combine the 2 files to a new output folder. Now for my problem...I obviously want to burn this newly created dvd onto a disc so both the videos are on it to watch one after the other. However, subsequent burns using ImgBurn are resulting in a disc that only plays the first video file. When I put the disc back in my pc and view it's contents on dvdshrink, both files are showing up as being burned on the disc, yet only the first will play. A friend has suggested to me that the reason for this is that in the absence of menus, ImgBurn defaults to play the first track only. Is this the case, and is there anything I can do about it to enable the second dvd file to play as well. I hope I've explained things clearly there and any help is much appreciated. Cheers A.P.
Cynthia Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 ImgBurn doesn't change the playback order or that type of stuff, so it sounds more as a player issue. On the burned disc, you have something like this? (the number of VOB files might be different) Do you have a software player in your computer? If so, play the burned disc by selecting the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to see if it plays booth videos after each other. Can you post the log of that burn? You find old logs here. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=14632
A.P. Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Hi there, thanks for you help. I just tried again with the same outcome, here is the log below. If I try and play the dvd in, say windows media player, then if I just click play then it will only play the first title. However, in the sidebar, the second title is there, and I can play that if I click on it manually. So, it seems all the files are there and intact. What is lacking is the ability for the dvd to just play continuously from the first title to the next, automatically. Any suggestions much appreciated. A.P. Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 An interesting development, I've just tried the disc on another dvd player and it works fine, so what would this suggest? Cheers
Cynthia Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 What happens if you in Windows Explorer right click on the VIDEO_TS.iFO file and then select open with and then select Windows Media Player. Will that play the two clips after each other?
Cynthia Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 An interesting development, I've just tried the disc on another dvd player and it works fine, so what would this suggest? Cheers Sounds as there is something in the first DVD players setup menu that only plays the first selected clip and not continues to the next one(s).
A.P. Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 (edited) What happens if you in Windows Explorer right click on the VIDEO_TS.iFO file and then select open with and then select Windows Media Player. Will that play the two clips after each other? I've just done that, and yes, I can play the two tracks one after the other automically. Edited January 9, 2011 by A.P.
