Imgburn won't support drive manufacturer

Well, I've been trying to burn some Wii backup discs, and I've been trying to book type the disc from DVD+R to DCD-R.

And, in order to book type it, you need the real drive manufacturer.

Well, my drive manufacturer is CMC Magnetics Corp, which is not one of the choices in Imgburn.

What should I do?

Posted

CMC make discs, not drives.

Load the program (v2.5.5.0) and copy + paste everything from the Log window.

Well, I didn't do much, so there's not much. But will this help?

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GA10N 1.05 (ATA)

That's not the contents of the Log window but never mind.

The program will automatically booktype to DVD-ROM on LG drives so you don't need to do anything.

So you're saying its a LG drive? And, that I should just leave it as it is?

Sorry, its just I'm new at this and I'm so confused.

I tried it before without doing anything, and my disc is DVD+R so i figured i had to change it.

oops, heres the log:

I 16:51:51 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started!

I 16:51:51 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7600)

I 16:51:51 Total Physical Memory: 4,189,088 KB - Available: 1,868,460 KB

I 16:51:51 Initialising SPTI...

I 16:51:51 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

I 16:51:51 -> Drive 1 - Info: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GA10N 1.05 (D:) (ATA)

I 16:51:51 Found 1 DVD±RW/RAM!

Like I said, I'm confused on this thing, so I didn't do much on it.

That's better :)

Yes, HL-DT-ST is LG.

LG drives are supported by the 'auto change book type' code so you don't need to do anything and the disc will automatically end up as 'DVD-ROM'. That is of course assuming your drive supports the required commands - some firmwares don't. If yours doesn't support them, you're probably out of luck.

Still is DVD+R :(

Is there any way to convert it or something?

I 18:53:38 Book Type Setting: N/A (Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code)

Your drive doesn't support the commands - so you're out of luck.

Anyways, I attempted to change the booktype on my cousin's computer. I realized his drive was a Samsung, but when I clicked DVD+R, it said Unknown(No way to query current setting)

I could choose what to change, but it said :

Failed!

Reason: Cannot format Medium- Incompatible medium. What does that mean?

The program automatically booktypes on Samsung drives too.
