benrvd Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I've burned at least 30 Dual layer discs of 360 backups using Imgburn successfully in the past year. I took a hiatus the past 3 months and revisited it this past week. I used these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GHWRIK/ref=oss_product Verbatim discs as I have always done. I updated to the new Imgburn update (potential problem). I even re-downloaded the latest drivers for my DVD drive, even though I'm sure I already had them as the latest release were from early January of last year. I've just gone through about 7 coasters trying make a backup. I've seen a variety of error messages, but this one appears to be the latest: "Set L0 Data Zone Capacity Failed! Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure" After searching various forums, I learned this is usually the result of using low-quality DL discs. However, I'm using the exact same ones that worked previously for me within the past year, meaning it's probably something else. Here is the log I get: I 10:20:48 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! Cynthia Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Have you tried the 4x write speed? On the package, where are the discs made? Singapore/Taiwan/India/China.
benrvd Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Singapore. I just tried the 4x. Same results
Cynthia Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 It could be some bad discs in the spindle. I have had spindles that were the pure jokes with Verbatims. You have another package to try with? I would also try to run a lens cleaning disc. Program Memory Area Update Failure I've seen this error message on Lite-Ons to be associated with the sources sector size. Have you tried to burn another project?
benrvd Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 I guess that's worth a shot. It'll have to wait until later though.
benrvd Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Actually I think I'm going to try to run a lens cleaning disc. Is there one you'd recommend? Also, I tried putting in an HP DL disc just to see what would happen, and as I try to open up the E: folder, I get a message that says, "Windows cannot read the disc in Drive E:/" "Make sure the disc uses a format that Windows recognizes. If the disc is unformatted, you need to format it before using." Could I have run into problems with with my DVD DL drive when I re-downloaded the drivers? Perhaps its not recognizing the drive as dual-layer compatible for some reason. I have an HL DT ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N ATA Device. Edited January 30, 2011 by benrvd
Cynthia Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Buy a cheap (not he ones that have sound checks and that type of stuff). W 10:32:39 Set L0 Data Zone Capacity Failed! - Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure Most likely the disc is still open and that's why you other reader can't read it.
