I've downloaded the latest version. I've checked for other processes holding the drive locked. I've removed suspect filters (and rebooted). I've cleared the Disable Media Change Notification flag. LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 10, 2011 Share Posted February 10, 2011 There are newer versions of SiRemFil.sys and AnyDVD.sys available (by updating drivers / the application). I've cleared the Disable Media Change Notification flag You can change that back now, it isn't the problem. Is your installation of DAEMON Tools up-to-date? Do you have the latest SPTD installed? You could try uninstalling your IDE/ATAPI controllers (Note: Not the 'channel' entries, they'll go anyway) from within Device Manager and rebooting. Since I had the latest version, I decided to uninstall Daemon, thinking that would also delete the SPTD driver. (It didn't, so the SPTD warning remains.) Rebooted and tried gain, without any luck. Since I had the Elaborate Bytes filter there too, I decided to take a "always suspect MS" approach and switched the I/O interface from SPTI to Elby CDIO. Success! rgutter Posted February 12, 2011 Author Share Posted February 12, 2011 Ok, so my balloon is burst. But - wasn't the invalid handle message spurious anyways? As I said, when I ignored the couldn't lock message ImgBurn would always flawlessly burn the disc - obviously it had obtained a valid handle. Is your thought that at that point the device isn't really locked and that down the line some process may screw up the burn? (I'm not usually the pragmatic type, but having put a lot of hours into this I have to admit I'm tempted to either live with an undiagnosed base problem that has no operational effect, or to wait until an OS refresh to see if that has any effect.) On reflection, it was likely that the problem was triggered when I changed the SI driver to work around an unrelated issue my system starting exhibiting.
