Multimedia files order

I have a certain number of short, sometimes a little long, video (mulitmedia) files that I want to either write to my hard drive, or burn on dvd. They keep doing both in alphetical order, and I dont want that. I want them to write or burn in the order I place them!! Some are in .avi, some in mpeg, but I wouldn't think that matters. I've also tried using a file joiner too, but I dont know if that it even worked, as I got an .iso image, but I still couldn't get anything out of it with imageburn. I'm at my wits end.
