I keep getting errors of the type: >>>>W 17:52:31 Failed to Read Sector 1881697 - Reason: Unrecovered Read Error<<<< I have tried several times and get this type of error every time at about the 66 - 85 % mark of the Verify. I have tried it with different source files. I am currently writing to a single layer DVD+rw [Memorex]. But I made a few coasters out of my Verbatim DVD+R's before I switched to the Memorex+rw. I recently switched from Nero6 because I was having problems with sound sync and because Nero could not handle all types of AVI files. The GOOD part about Nero was that I did NOT have ANY problems with burn failures. I have included a copy of the latest log below. In it I tried 2 burns: first, using a write speed of AWS -- second, using a write speed of 2x. The memorex disc max speed rating is 4x. I originally tried it, burning an ISO file. I had verify enabled in Nero. But - These were the [AVI] files that Nero could not encode. I don't remember exactly what the problem was in Nero. [it was was about 2.5 months ago.] As I recall, I got an error mssg before the encode that indicated Nero could not handle the file type. The encode never started. It did not say why. Like I said above, I burnt many discs in Nero that had audio sync problems. I really don't like that. What I meant, when I said I did not have BURN problems with Nero, was that I encoded and burnt many other AVI files without getting burn errors or verify errors. ""No idea how Nero could burn those without issues.""..... Would you mind expanding on that comment a little?. It sounds like you see some problems with the files I am trying to burn?? I am new at this - so I would not see what you see. My knowledge level on authoring/burning DVD's is minimal. Could use your help. Thanks, jer01
Cynthia Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 To be honest, what I see is a pretty old burner (released in 2004) with some discs that are a bit of hit and trial luck to get to burn, even with modern burners. A disc that cleans the laser head might help, but such disc cost around 1/3 of what a new burner costs.
