ianymaty Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I 10:26:50 Destination Device: [0:1:0] TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C SB04 (D:) (ATA)I 10:26:50 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: UMEDISC-DL1-64) (Speeds: 4x) Did the former used discs have the same Disc ID: UMEDISC-DL1-64? Whatever speed you set it will be burned at 4x since it is the only speed supported on that media. Try again after update the firmware for your drive to SB06 http://www.firmwarehq.com/Samsung/SH-S223C/files.html Try a new spindle, maybe you got a faulty batch.
cypher79 Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 thanks for your reply i am not sure about the disc id, is there any way i can check with one of my older back-ups? i put one in my drive but couldnt find any id... anyway i tried burning the game on an old pc with an old version of imgburn on, and old firmware too and it burned perfectly?! i will also try the firmware update on my new pc, and i think i will try Verbatim discs next time too as Aones are so hit and miss these days.
ianymaty Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Put a disc in the drive, wait for ImgBurn to access it for information and look on the right side for Pre-recorded Information:Manufacturer ID: If you are in Build mode, switch to Device tab, in all other modes you get the info straight. You can't compare a drive to another, especially when aren't the same brand and model. It's all about drive/firmware/media combination incompatibility. Verbatims are the most compatible/reliable media to all drives, that's why is always recommended.
