texas83 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Help please! Trying to burn a 10.1 lexus navigation dvd. I am using TDK DVD+R discs and it gave me a medium not present- tray closed error. Any help? I chose the source file, then clicked on tools and selected "drive", then "change book type", clicked on Samsung (is this the right manufacturer?), then from the drop down menu "Change for" and select "Drive (For DVD+R Media)" and then under "New Setting" select "DVD-ROM". Then it burned for a few minutes and I got this error. PLEASEEEEE HELP! Thank you. I am not certain if my DVD burner is samsung or not, that might be the error. texas83 Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 You think my DVD+R 's are bad? I though TDK was the best, even better than Verbatims? Is this not correct? Can you verify that my drive is samsung?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 TDK just use the same rubbish dye/MID that all the other cheapo brands use. Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the only real mainstream brands that use the good stuff. Yes your drive is a Samsung but you don't need to touch the booktype stuff, ImgBurn handles it automatically for your drive.
texas83 Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Ok but don't I need to set the type as DVD-ROM? Otherwise won't my car not recognize the disc? I want to try again. SHould I just insert the blank DVD, set the source file, and hit burn? no other changes at all? Thanks so much!
texas83 Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Bump this! any more suggestions before i make another coaster?! please
mmalves Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Update your burner's firmware and try burning at 4x, as per the topic I posted above.
texas83 Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Update your burner's firmware and try burning at 4x, as per the topic I posted above. Thank you so much for responding! So what about the DVD-ROM setting? Do I need to do that? I am clueless here, first time burning a DVD.

texas83 Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 I'm sorry I don't understand your reply. I have downloaded the file here: http://www.demonoid.me/files/details/2533084 Here a question about the downloaded nav files i'm trying to burn. In my Vuze downloads folder, there are 3 items that have been downloaded from that torrent. First file is a text document that says downloaded from Demonoid.me, I get this one. Second file is a MDF File that is 7.82GB big, named TOYOTA LEXUS NAVIGATION DVD. Third file is a Image File, only 9kb small, also named TOYOTA LEXUS NAVIGATION DVD. When I open ImgBurn and select the source file to burn, it only gives me the option to select the small Image File. When I click it it does load up the big file and it appears to be correct, just want to verify that I am burning the correct file to the disc and that is not the source of the error.
texas83 Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) The DVDs are definitely brand new. I inserted another blank DVD and clicked on the verify DVD option in ImgBurn. Cynthia Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The small file usually only contains the layer break position of the image/disc and a reference to the big (iso) file that should be loaded and burned. So yes, you selected the right one. Free Sectors: 4,173,824 This time your drive reports the right size of an empty DL disc. IMHO the real issue here is that your burner doesn't like the brand of media you are using. I would try with some Verbatims.

texas83 Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 I went out and bought some memorex DVD+R DL discs. They did not have Verbatims. I got another error, this time it burned 50% and then gave me the error. Do I have to have a special drive to burn DL discs? My drive model is shown in the log, is that the problem?
