ImgBurn gets stuck while burning DVD+R DL

Hi there,

I have been trying to burn an iso image to dvd+r DL. For some reason it gets stuck every time I try to do it. It first got stuck at 2%, then at 5% and now 10%. The write rate just falls to 0 kb/s and the buffer gets stuck to 100% and the device buffer gets stuck to 1% (these figures are the same every time). I couldn't find any firmware update and it should be fine as this computer was bought in '09, also the drive should be okay for this. The discs I use are Verbatims. The first two times, I tried to use 2X speed. I simply cannot grasp why this problem persists. The dvd light is on and the abort won't work. The changelog doesn't give any good reason for this, but here it is:

Writing like a turtle and much slower than what you have set it to - have you checked that you have the latest chip set drivers installed for the mother board regarding the SATA channels? Tried to use another SATA connector on the motherboard?

Same slow speeds if you burn a regular single layer disc?

I didn't have any normal DVDs so I went to my brother's desktop computer and it burns just fine. I think the problem is that my drive is dirty or damaged as this is laptop. Is my own driver a lost cause?

Thanks for the help anyway.
