BD-R DL reading speed drops

Hello,

Blu ray BD-R DL seems burnt OK with Imgburn but when playback it freezes. I've verified it with ImgBurn and it begins OK but after some minutes the read speeds drops so i've stopped verifying.

I'm using Verbatim BD-R DL 4x (VERBAT-IMd-000). I've had this problem twice. I did the same before (for trying) using SONY BD-RE DL and everything was OK.

Any ideas?

If 2x with your drive/firmware/media combo is producing a difficult to read disc, try the remaining 'supported' write speeds (4x and 6x).

 

Failing that, try some VERBAT-IMb-000 or VERBAT-IMf-000 discs instead. (2x and 6x versions I believe)

Thank you. I've tried to burn with DVDFab. The result is OK. DVDFab configuration is: burning engine VSO and speed "recommended".

Perhaps, as you suggest, the burning speed is the reason.

Another difference i've found between DVDFab and Imgburn is the burning strategy between layers. DVDFab burns completely layer 0 and the rest in layer 1, but Imgburn burns fifty/fifty between layers.

Until you try the other speeds, I guess you won't know if 4x or 6x work better for your drive/firmware/media combo.

 

You always fill the first layer and then burn the rest on the second with BD media. There's no other way of doing it.

 

btw, you do realise that you can never use your drive to its full potential whilst connected via USB 2.0 yeah? The interface would struggle to support burning at 6x, let alone 12x. If you have eSATA on your computer, use that instead.
