rajivrout Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) Hi all I am new, yesterday I downloaded ImgBurn and followed every step as mentioned here How to write DVD Video files directly to single layer media using ImgBurn at the end I even got the message 'operation completed successfully', but the dvd was still blank. With the same dvd I tried to write another video using windows dvd maker and it worked fine. Can anyone guess what is wrong? Cheers Edited May 11, 2011 by rajivrout
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Did you enable 'Test Mode' or something? If you post the log of that burn, we don't need to guess anything. (As per the pink box up the top )
rajivrout Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 I have to do little correction with what I posted yesterday... So when I got a blank disc after processing with ImgBurn, I repeated the process one more time and the result was identical. Then I took the dvd and tried to write with windows dvd maker. The setup was allright, I got no warning or no error, then after 6 hours of writing process it failed saying 'dvd can not be created'. Today I took the same dvd and tried once more with ImgBurn and this is what I got... I 09:49:45 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Your drive doesn't appear to like the cheapo media you're using. (Note that 16x is NOT a supported speed for your drive/firmware/media combo. You should try some other speed from the list of 'Supported' ones) You must have disabled verify on your previous burns. Without it, we can't tell if it was actually successful or not. Just because a 'Write' operation appears to go without a hitch does not mean the disc will actually be readable - that's the whole reason 'Verify' (after 'Write') is enabled by default.
rajivrout Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 1- That is the only media available now. 2- Shall I go for something 2X, anyway during the whole writing it never exceeded 2.4. 3- This time I will check both places where verify is written. 4- Is this "I 16:12:52 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: MBI 01RG40) (Speeds: 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x)" line tells us the appropriate speed to be selected? Is there anything else I should consider before the next attempt? Cheers R
ianymaty Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Your drive can only burn that disc at that speeds shown in that line, so whatever speed you would select other than what it shows possible the drive will use the closest available to burn. If you select 2x it will be burned at 3x, if you select anything above 8x it wil be burned at 8x however.

rajivrout Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) I 16:51:24 Destination Device: [1:0:0] TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H D400 (E:) (ATA) Update your burner's firmware. Apparently my dvd writer no longer writes with any software. I tried with 2 other tools and in both cases I received a satisfactory note of 'operation completed successfully', but they were talking about blank disks... I guess this may be the reason. Is there someway I can verify the hardware of my writer? Edited May 13, 2011 by rajivrout
ianymaty Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Install this firmware update if you're not done it already as mmalves suggested http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_1469-file_TS-L632H_FW_D700.zip.html and give us a log with burn and verify enabled.
mmalves Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 You can flash DW30 on your burner, it's just that Dell names their firmware DW10/DW20/etc after what would be D900
