LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 That dye doesn't sound right for a Verbatim disc.
jat1964 Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Hello Thanks for the reply What would be the correct Disc Id ?????? Where the best place to obtain a verb 50gig re-writeable??? Think i need to get in touch with the ebay seller Cheerz James
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 At this moment in time, I have no idea! The 25GB BD-RE is 'VERBAT-IM0-000' so I'd expect true Verbatim disc to use something similar. Are yours actually branded as Verbatim? They've only quite recently started producing them. http://www.verbatim-europe.co.uk/en_1/product_bd-re-dl-50gb-2x-5-pack-jewel-case_3_0_33351.html
jat1964 Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Hello got the disc from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-verbatim-bluray-dvd-rw-dl-blu-ray-2X-bd-re-50GB-NEW-/190391454132?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_BlankCDsDVDs&hash=item2c543709b4 oh well !!!! Have emailed the seller...don't hold out must hope tho... Cheerz James
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 If you haven't already left feedback, make a point of mentioning the actual dye the discs use in it. I've ordered some of the proper Verbatim BD-RE 50GB discs now (i.e. the exact ones I linked you to - via Amazon.de) Once they arrive, I'll try and remember to update this thread with whatever dye/MID they use. Going back to your initial playback problem, do you have a burn+verify log handy? At this point, it's hard to know if the player has an issue with the discs (full stop), just with that burn (or perhaps the formatting method used) or with the content on the disc.
jat1964 Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Hello Just found those verb's on the amazon.de.....i have a amazon.co.uk log in...can i order via this???? As for the imgburn log...did not keep it....did what the guide said..udf 2.50 etc...ripped the movie using dvdfab to folder...am i better doing the .iso??? Thanks James
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Yeah, I just fumbled my way though the .de site because they were cheaper that way Did you use ImgBurn manually (i.e. 'standalone') or did a 3rd party app call it up? If you did it manually, the logs should still be there - you can access them via the 'Help' menu. Failing that, copy stuff off the BD-RE disc to hdd, then reburn manually with ImgBurn... then you'll have a log to show me

LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 You do have the 1.00-09 / 1.00-A9 firmware installed yeah? http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/BH10LS30/files.html Right click the drive selection box and click 'Capabilities'. It should list the full firmware version info for your drive - rather than just '1.00'. I see you've formatted that disc with spare areas enabled. Maybe your player wants them disabled? Go back into the settings and re-enable/check the 'Prefer Format Without Spare Areas' box (it's on the 'Write' tab). Then do another full format. Setting the write speed to 1x doesn't do anything, the drive only supports those discs at 2x. I 07:57:11 Destination Media Type: BD-RE (Disc ID: TDKBLD-Wfa-000) (Speeds: 2x) Verify your burns via the little 'Verify' checkbox on the main 'Write' mode screen.
jat1964 Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Hello Yep correct firmware...updated as soon as got the burner did the format with no free spaces first when the disc arrived....thought i would try format with free spaces....made no difference to playback on LG BD370 !!!!! Just tried to format the disc again....bloody thing stopped at 54% and would not move on...had to force eject!!!! on a brighter note ebay seller has got in touch...will see what happens How much did you pay for the verbs....£19.00 for one 50gb re seems a bit high Many thanks James
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Yeah I thought it was bit pricey just getting 1 so I opted for the box of 5. I think it was like £55 in the end (after converting from euros) - including delivery.
jat1964 Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Hello Do you have a spare one for sale out of your box of five ???? Here's the reply from the ebay seller Hello James, yes the MID code is from TDK but the discs is sold under Mitusbishi-Verbatim brand. despite that we know about this MID code we are forbidden to advertise the discs under their MID code because thats not the way makers sell their discs. maxell, Imation, JVC and even panasonic and TDK have some of their discs with TDK MID code but it doesn't mean they don't manufacture their discs, they only take TDK MID code and add their own proprietary hard coat technology like accucore in sony or Azo blue in Verbatim. Please can you tell us more about the troubles? kind regards. Unsure what to say to the bloke?? Cheerz James
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Whilst I'd love to be able to say I have a spare one, I would prefer to keep them as I'll use them for testing - sorry I'd say to hold fire on replying to the ebay seller if possible - just until I can report back which MID my Verbatim discs use. Are yours actually stamped with the Verbatim brand name anywhere or are they just plain white / unbranded ones?
jat1964 Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Hello No probs re the disc...might have to bite the pillow and smash my piggy bank to get one!!!!! It says on the disc Mitusbishi KAGAKU MEDIA.CO.LTD I am also wondering if the standalone player is part of the problem.....it plays the sony 25gb RE no issues....Might have to buy a standard 50gb write once only disc and try that....Player is LG BD370...any ideas???? Great Help....A Big Thank You Cheerz James
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Do you have the latest firmware installed for the player?
jat1964 Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Hello Just getting a RJ45 cable to hopefully update firmware...got three spare ports on the router now!!!!! Thanks James
