Seems the last few DL discs (All verbatim MKM-003-00 from the same spindle 30 pack) I have burned have failed due to a "Focus Servo Error". All were burned at max burn speed selected and the failure would happen at different points during the burning process. The latest log has been included. I am currently trying to burn the same project with a max speed of 4X and so far it has been successful. If it is successful, I will just have to select the slower burn speed so I do not get any more DL coasters So, why would it be successful at one speed at not at another? Could it be the drive or perhaps not the best batch of DL discs? Thanks to all for your suggestions and help. ... update. Latest burn was successful with a max write speed of 4X. ianymaty Posted May 24, 2011 Share Posted May 24, 2011 I 20:13:49 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x) MAX would be 10x while the discs are 8x rated. That's normal for majority of drives but not all can handle it well. You have to find out what speed from those available will produce a working disc and eventualy the best burn, than stick with it.
