Twisted Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) First off all thanks for at least viewing my topic to maybe sort out my problem, and do forgive my spelling, english is not my first langauge... Here it comes.. I've been burning 360 games for about a year. And never had problems. Untill a few months ago. I'd say the past 2-3 months. When i'm burning Verbatim DL+ at 2.4x(wich becomes about 4x, nothing ussual but thought to mention it.)imgburn just freezes over while burning or verifying the disc. All my drivers are updated. Have an auto-tool to check it weekly. The strange thing is that it freezes inconsistently. So never on the exact same %. Nor always on just burning or verifying. Plus that it for example freezes 2 times but succeeds on the thirth time. Or freezes on verifying while i can still play the game on some games even at verrified at 22%? I already eliminated 1 reason. Imgburn seems to freeze when powersafe or screensaver(on my pc he just disables my monitor instead of a screensaver). Thought to mention it maybe for others. Second issue that i might think it's the problem comes forwared from (trying) to read the log. It gives the message "Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance". I've googled SPTD and it gave a lot of info, but i'm still clueless(due to lack of info or walls of texts found) what it exactly does and if you really need it. There was one way explained how to remove it and reinstall it. So i could try that, but rather not mess arround to much arround with things i don't understand in the mighty-stable-OS we call Vista... I might have giving to much info. But thought to eliminate further questions and improvement on how to get it fixxed. I don't have problems burning anything else, i don't get any error messages. And all though imgburns freezes and i have to restart my pc cuz the disc won't come out nor will imgburn close sooner then that i shut down my pc. My pc still works fine, i can do whatever i want, internet, play games, play music/video etc. But imgburn just freezes. So here is the log of a 360 game i tried to burn today which frooze at 83% at burning: I 13:12:21 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! My discs are made in the right country(can't remember which it was, but checked it before). Plus that the problem seemed to start when i bought 2 new packs. Before i had 2.4x disc. Now 4x is the minimum speed to burn. All though i think it's to easy to say that's the issue. Edited May 30, 2011 by Twisted
mmalves Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Look for the latest drivers for your system's chipset/storage controller(s): this website might help, or you can identify them using SIW and then googling the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. You should also apply the latest firmware for your burner, but I'd advise to do this as the very last thing to do since if it hangs it could brick your burner.
Twisted Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 So you do reckon the issue i stated might be the problem then? Will try to see if the tool i use missed out on firmware. Thanks for the input!
mmalves Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 You could try connecting your burner to another SATA port available inside your computer. You could also try a new SATA cable to ensure the cable is not the problem. If you happen to know how to access your system's BIOS please let us know if your SATA controller is in IDE compatibility mode, AHCI mode or RAID mode.
Twisted Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) I've just checked in my Bios. Config for SATAII as AHCI. My pc is about 1,5 year old. Not saying that cables can't be broken. But never openend this pc before. Nor have i moved my pc in the last year. So a damaged cable i would say is very unlikely. all though you never know. Plus what is a bit weird that it sometimes does work. And that if i burn for example an audio cd it doesn't give me any problems. So i'd say the connections shouldn't be the problem. mmalves Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Then you should manually install the latest drivers for your chipset/storage controllers, as they could be messing with the communication with the burner. Also please post a copy of your Filter Driver Load Order (look for that option in ImgBurn's Tools menu and click the Clipboard button so that you can paste the text here).
Twisted Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 Is there something you dont take into account when helping someone lol? And it does look ugly imo: =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.5.5.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: [None Found] Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: [None Found] Lower Device Filter: [None Found] I'll try to install the drivers tomorrow manually. It's now 2:40. Time to go to bed. Thanks for the help so far!
Twisted Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Been busy with work last few days. Burned a 360 game last night. Didn't gave me any errors. Seems fine now. Thanks for the help!
