Booktype and GSA-T50N DVD-RAM drive on Lenovo

I have an identical issue to EyhSteve who posted on 23/11/2010.

I have attached a screen grab of Imgburn (great program I have to say!)while trying to change the Booktype of my Verbatim DVD+R DL disks. As you can see the LG drive appears not to accept the change booktype command. Therefore after a successful burn it doesn't work in my car's satnav DVD player (so I can keep my originals away from the harsh car environment).

I used exactly the same setup and disks in another machine - an Acer Travelmate - and the drive in that (not sure what that is) accepts the Booktype change and produces a proper DVD-ROM disk which can be read from the Satnav player.

While I understand Cynthia's response to EyhSteve she may have missed the point - the log I got from the Lenovo burn does show the same error as in the attached grab when I try to change the Booktype from the Write dialog window.

I think that it must be the LG drive causing the issue - there doesn't appear to be an updated firmware from Lenovo and I am doubtful about crossburning from another image. Is the LG drive beyond redemption??

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm afraid I did a few other things which seem to have overwritten the original Imgburn log - however I do remember it said (something like)the same error that setting the booktype from the window icon did - ie couldn't do it......Ie it tried to change the booktype to DVD-ROM since it knew from the read that that's what it should be, but for some reason the drive didn't do it..... There were no other errors of any description during the creation of this DVD.

However here is the result of the coaster that the LG drive created......

That's fair enough, the disc info contained what I wanted to see.

It isn't always mega important that a drive supports the booktype commands - a lot of them will automatically booktype DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM anyway.

Unfortunately, your drive isn't one of them.
