How can I span a burn over multiple disks ? I have a 5 GB file but only 4.8 GB media. Is it possible with ImgBurn to get this done ?

Nope, just use a Double Layered DVD+-R disc.

Or you can split the .iso with DVDShrink. :)

IF the image is a DVD Video image, of course. :) Otherwise, DVDShrink won't do.
