DjBR Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Lite On iHAS122-04 Optiarc AD-7260S Pioneer DVR-219BK The store I am looking at have prices according to list order, being the Pioneer the more expensive. I myself own a AD7240-S and can`t complain, even burned dual-layers cheap media. I got a new Optiarc for a client machine the other day, for general use. Now this machine I will build will be a recording station, and it will burn CD-Rs. So this one has to be special. Any reason to change to Pioneer or should I stick with Optiarc? Comments really appreciated!
dbminter Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I currently have that Optiarc model installed in my machine. I can't complain about Optiarcs in the past I've used. Except that they hated Ritek 6x DVD-RW's and would never start a Verify on them. Unfortunately, I can't really gauge the Optiarc's performance as I had numerous system problems in the PC related to SATA and USB drives.
Cynthia Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 The Pioneer is made by QSI and if it's the same quality as the 118/218 series I would avoid it. The Optiarc is both a nice reader and burner.
DjBR Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Thanks Cynthia. That was really insightful. Closing order on Optiarc batches!
