MichaelM Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 hi i am having problems today with my LG WH10LS30. i tried burning a iso and on first attempt it failed before starting to write the disc. the second attempt it got to "Synchronising Cache..." and took forever to do that. i think it skipped that cause right after when it said finalising disc it said "Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format" i thought it was originally because i had a disk mounted in imgburn when i did the first attempt so i unmounted it and then on second attempt to burn i got that finalise disc failure. keep in mind i use the same brand i've had success with in the past. the Verbatim BD-R DL 4x (bought from a japanese source). never had a problem until today. i burned a dvd using clonedvd the other night and that worked. i think i know why it's doing it tho. a couple of days ago i i had a stuck dvd in this drive. i use the paperclip in the hole on the drive trick and it popped out but was still spinning when it came out. maybe that messed up my drive idk. also i have the latest firmware it seems for this LG drive. here is my log. can somebody tell me how i can burn bd-r's again. or do i need to buy a new blu-ray drive? thanks! MichaelM Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 i forgot to mention something. a few months ago i made a post on here with another blu-ray burning problem. i kept getting the yellow buffering messages in the log with pretty much any blu-ray i attempted to burn. it turns out the reason was that i had the source iso's i was burning stored on my OS drive. so what i did was i moved the iso's to burn onto one of my internal drives that installed and since then i've never gotten a yellow buffering error when burning blu-rays in iso format. this is just a hunch now but do you think it would make a difference if i moved the iso's yet again to my 3rd internal drive? i mean i think the OS drive wasn't as powerful as the internal drives or had too much going on in the background on the OS drive. i just wanna be sure before i attempt burning another blu-ray. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve this.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 It's not related to your hdd or where the files are stored. This is a problem between your drive, its firmware and the discs you're using. The drive might need cleaning or you could have ended up with some lower quality discs - you can never be sure when buying those 'repacked' discs - which is what I assume you're getting - from ebay or whatever? You'd need to try your discs in another of those drives, and try your drive with some other discs to perhaps narrow down where the problem is coming from.
