I am using LG GGW-H20L burner and have started using newly bought Verbatim 6x BD-R discs today. All two trials were failed. I then downloaded and installed the latest firmware YL-07. The same problem persists. Attached below the error log. Can anyone please help?

That's not YL07 firmware and they're not true Verbatim discs.

I have mistakenly posted the log file before firmware update. The correct one is appended below -

The disc is Verbatim 6x BD-R as marked on the packing.

Ok well they're not using the normal Verbatim MIDs and I guess the H20L (even with YL07) doesn't support them very well (or at all).

My advice would be to return the discs and buy the real deal.

Posted
The disc is Verbatim 6x BD-R as marked on the packing.

I 11:38:09 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: CMCMAG-BA5-000) (Speeds: 2x)

Hmmm I didn't know Verbatim was using CMC factory for any of their discs.

Anyway the "YL07" caught my eye as I have the GGW-H20L, and looking at the supported media types, yours is not listed:

BD-R supported media types: 66
------------------------------------------
ANWELL R04-004 2x
CMCMAG BA2-000 2x
CMCMAG BA3-000 4x,2x
CMCMAG BA3-000 4x,2x
CMCMAG BB5-000 4x,2x
Daxon R2X-000 2x
Daxon R2X-000 2x
...

I think this means you are out-of-luck with this media! But thanks for alerting me to the new LG firmware--first in 2 1/2 years!

How can I check the types of media supported by GGW-H20L? From lge.com or somewhere else?

Posted
Media Code Speed Edit should be able to load the firmware and you should see the supported stuff inside that program.

Yes, that's what I used. You can Export the list to a text file for easier reading or printout.

Computerlove I'm curious--are your discs genuine Verbatim? Might they be the new "Life Series" (iirc) type?

Posted

Thanks Cynthia and laserfan for the information. I don't know anything about ircc. But do you think adding the new disc ID manually into the firmware can help solve the problem?

Posted

I asked if the Verbatims were "Life Series" (If I Recall Correctly) because these are cheaper discs and I wondered if that's what you had and thus they are manufactured at CMC.

To my knowledge you should only use MediaCodeSpeedEdit to confirm what media your drive supports; it is not likely to help you to manually fudge the CMC media into the LG's firmware.
