Synchronizing Cache, drive noise, no debug text

I've tried burning this same project several times. I'm using Verbatim 8X DVD+R DL made in Singapore. I've used 2 different discs. It won't finalize the disc.

The first time it said failed to write sectors 0 - 31 reason: write error.

The second time it got all the way to synchronizing disc and never finalized.

For the third I checked Don't Use Immediate I/O after reading that suggestion in some forum topic.

It is still currently stuck on synchronizing disc.

The drive was making noise but I hit F8 to pull up debug and nothing is showing up.

here's the log file for the 3rd try, I know it says write speed max but I watched it and it burned 2.4x the whole time anyway. I tried setting the speed to 2.4x for the first try and it said speed not available burning at 2x and that's the time it gave write error.

know of any 24 hour store that would sell a cleaning disc? it's currently 4:45 am here.

I have a laptop so you would recommend getting an external drive? How do they connect, do they make USB drives or need to get some kind of PCI card converter?

Also an update..

Most big electronics stores should carry those. As for 24hr ones... no idea.

Yes, get an external drive.

You can just buy an generic 5.25" USB->SATA enclosure and stick a decent burner (Optiarc 72xx or something) in it - don't worry about buying a pre-prepared 'external' drive.
