OrionStar Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Lets say I want to revert to a prior version. Installer tells me it will reset my settings but does not give me the option to abort the install, thus deleting my settings. May I suggest a portable version, or the option to store settings locally in an imgburn.ini file, so it can be recovered from a backup? I think I found the Imgburn settings in the second partition's registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ImgBurn. For the first time ever I am getting an I/O error during a DVD Verify operation following a successful Imgburn "Write Image file to disk" operation. I do not understand this error message. It is occurring on two separate XP SP3 partitions on same computer, one with V.2.5.5.0 (which has never reported this error), the other with V.2.5.6.0. I presume DVD drive or media are suspect, but I am clueless on the message. How can I tell if the problem is with the Disc or Drive? Thank you.
Cynthia Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 ImgBurn is already portable. Post the full log.
OrionStar Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thank you Cynthia. The log was unfortunately destroyed when I restored to V.2.5.5.0 from backup. I get same error as soon as I attempt to select a file from the Verify dialog. This happens even when I put in a blank disc and try to verify against the ISO file. If I try to verify the written disc with no (ISO) image file, it works up to 95% then I get this error (how can a verification have meaning without a file to verify against?) I am really clueless on this. ------------- BEGIN Log --------------------------- I 20:44:32 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! ianymaty Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 There is a later firmware for your drive. You want 4.25 http://www.firmwarehq.com/NEC/ND-6500A/files.html That error is typical for bad/junk media. Try some better quality media from Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden or at least other than Disc ID: CMC MAG. AM3 Try cleaning the lens, it may help.

Firmware 4.25 is for OEM units; my unit is from bulk, thus there is one slightly newer 2.25 version. That being said, its been fine for 4 years with v.2.24 so I don't believe my problem is firmware. Yes, its possible its the CMC (Maxell) media. I just ruined a second disk. I have only a few left. Then I will try to get the Verbatim, as TY are scarce in my area. I don't burn that often and spindles last a long time, so I prefer to buy smaller spindles. What can be said about being able to play the DVD to the end, but getting Read Errors during Verify, all on the same optical drive? Any opinion on Sony DVD-R 50-pack spindle quality (see attachment)? I don't know the disk manufacturer, but they are on sale nearby. Thanks again!
Cynthia Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 When you buy Verbatim, get the one with AZO label.

OrionStar Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Good news! I just successfully burned and verified a DVD +R and DVD-R, both Verbatim, so my hardware is OK. Thank you to everyone that responded! Issue Resolved!
