Cynthia Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 If it can't burn the best media on the market, get a new burner.
Dante109 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 But i tried a single layer dvd, it burned perfectly
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Yes but single layer DVDs aren't double layer DVDs. It's apples and oranges.
Dante109 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 ok will try it on a different drive and let you know.
Dante109 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Shall it work with an external DVD writer? Im thinking of buying this- Transcend Slim Portable CD/DVD Writer http://www.flipkart.com/computers/external-dvd-writers/itmczzca8dah3y5f?pid=accczzc9uzk9gzzs&_l=Mov%20fT84kmRKD0p%20AQJKyQ--&_r=QXBxpuU8TtlpPrW5x%20kUQQ--&ref=2fb77186-5499-4639-8abd-810cff3757d6
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 You should avoid slim drives, they make for rubbish burners. Buy a generic 5.25 USB/eSATA enclosure and put a standard desktop drive in it - something like an Optiarc 7260/7280.
Dante109 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) My choices very narrowed down... Is it that the external drive will result in an unsuccessful burn or just a few unsuccessful one's? And i dont care if it stops working after 1 Year or so cuz i needed it kinda urgently.. Dante109 Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 You should avoid slim drives, they make for rubbish burners. Buy a generic 5.25 USB/eSATA enclosure and put a standard desktop drive in it - something like an Optiarc 7260/7280. Sadly I dont have a pc but a laptop. Should I take an external one or an internal one for the laptop and if so please recommend a brand with model no.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I already did that in post # 7 The enclosure would be something like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tempest-5-25-Blu-ray-DVD-RW-Sata-ESATA-USB-Enclosure-/300555082457?pt=UK_Collectables_HardDriveEnclosures_RL&hash=item45fa7a9ad9 and then just stick a drive like this in it... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Sony-NEC-Optiarc-AD-7280S-Internal-DVD-Writer-/380372325201?pt=UK_Computing_Drives_Storage_CD_DVD_Drives_ET&hash=item588ff51351
