BDMV / CERTIFICATE folders

Hi.

I have a question regarding the burning of Bluray folders onto a BDRE 50gb DL.

I have read through your How-To-Guide for burning BDMV / CERTIFICATE folders onto a BDRE 50gb DL test disc.

I have read the FAQ's and done a search through the forum for similar questions.

I have also read the pink box as advised and acknowledge your points.

These points above answered almost every thought I have had regarding a burning problem I still have.

I have used a TDK BDRE 50gb DL disc ( yes I know you have suggested Verbatim and that is being rectified in the meantime ) to successfully burn a copy I made of my Terminator Salvation Bluray disc I own, by burning the BDMV / CERTIFICATE folders onto the TDK disc. It played back properly on my stand alone Panasonic bluray player. Fantastic.

I tried to burn the BDMV / CERTIFICATE folders I was given of another bluray movie and it seems to successfully burn but when I attempt to play it back in my Panasonic stand alone player, it starts and then stops. I have also tried using a maximum write speed of 1x but the same problem occurs - the start / stop play issue continues.

Why?

It works on one movie using the TDK disc but not another movie. Is there something missing in the BDMV / CERTIFICATE folders that I am not aware of?

Or is this a peculiar issue of using a TDK disc as opposed to a Verbatim disc?

Does the content form BDMV folder on your hard drive play nice in a software player?

I 00:37:05 Destination Device: [4:0:0] ATAPI iHBS212 2 5L09 (D:) (ATA)

I 00:37:05 Destination Media Type: BD-RE (Disc ID: TDKBLD-Wfa-000)

I 00:37:05 Destination Media Supported Write Speeds: 2x

Whatever speed you want, the drive can only write on that media at 2x.

Since you didn't let the program to verify the burned disc we don't know if it was a good burn.

Burn another disc and let it verify.

The data on the disc is exactly what's on your hdd.

So if the player has an issue with what's on the disc, either it just can't read it very well or the source files are to blame.

I assume you have the latest firmware on your player?

Try and play the disc in a proper 'BD capable' software player (not VLC etc). Use a trial/demo of PowerDVD 11 Ultra if you don't have one.
