I also ran a the disc @ KProbe - the PIF/PI values sky rocket at 50% i.e. Layer 1 which would explain the bad burn

Your insight would be appreciated:

1- IMGBURN "Waiting for buffers to recover" error caused the PIF/PI spike (settings tweak required?)

2- Sub Standard media used

3- Some other error that lead to bad burn

DMA is enabled on both ATA channels @ Dive Manager IDE Controllers

Thanks

You already know they aren't the recommended discs.

Do you have any Verbatim ones?

Your buffer issues were caused by the hdd being too busy to supply a steady stream of data - and at 2.4x, it really isn't a lot!

Try not to make your hdd thrash around whilst burning. Random access kills the sequential transfer rate.

You have a fair bit of memory spare so perhaps try upping the buffer to 80MB or something. It'll give you more of a safety net should it happen again.

Thank you for the advice - they have the cheap Taiwanese Verbs here and the Singapore ones are impossible to find

Also, this was a late night burn i.e no one was using the PC - I was in the same room!

Will up the buffer to 80MB and re-try.

Would Sony be any better - and do you reckon I'll need to re-flash with custom firmware via MCSE?

Thanks
