Dual Layer DVD burn menu anomaly

Recommended Posts

I created an .iso image in Encore with three pages of menus/submenus. After burning with ImgBurn, I can access all the dvd content by using the number buttons on the remote ONLY – I can’t navigate with the “arrows”. There is no response when I try to navigate through the menu structure this way. I’ve tested this with both my PC and my Blu-Ray DVD player connected to the TV with the same results.

However, using Virtual CloneDrive, I can successfully mount the image and navigate through the menu structure with the arrows and access content without a problem, which leads me to believe the .iso image is fine. Any clue to what is causing this menu problem? I’m using Ritek dual layer DVD+R DL media. After the first attempt at AWS I burned at 4x speed, with no change. Any help is appreciated.

You're using an old version of ImgBurn there. It won't fix the problem you're having (because it's nothing to do with it), but it'll fix a lot of others.

Verify your burns to ensure everything is as it should be and readable.

If the mounted ISO works, there's no reason a fully readable burnt DVD+R DL wouldn't.

Look for player updates (software updates and firmware for your standalone). Look for updates to the adobe software too.

Will do. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.

I updated the app and after checking "verify", the disc failed to verify - see log and error mesage below. Is this bad media, or something else?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your quick reply!

Yes, I have done all suggestions in that thread but buy new media.

I have used two burners, 1 dvd and 1 BR, both less than 1 month old.

Firmware is most current.

I tried all the speeds available - I have a coaster collection in my circular file...:-)

So, now I'll go out and get some verbatim dual layer discs and see if that solves the problem.

OK - Verbatim dual layer (or double layer, as they call it) disc burned and verified! I do still have a menu issue, but can safely assume ImgBurn is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, and that the menu issue is occurring due to something earlier in the process. Thanks again for your help.
